Aniruddha Jatkar, whose last major release was the 2018 film Raja Simha, is making a comeback to the big screen with Chef Chidambara, a dark comedy that will be in theatres on June 14. Directed by M Anand Raj, Chef Chidambara is one of two Kannada films that have currently booked mid-June for its theatrical outing. Ahead of the release, the team is all set to give audiences a glimpse into the film with the trailer, which will be unveiled on May 1.

Chef Chidambara, which pairs Aniruddha with Love Mocktail 2 fame Rachel David, also stars Nidhi Subbaiah in a pivotal role. The cast includes Shivamani, Sharath Lohithashwa, KS Sridhar, Raghu Ramanakoppa, Kari Subbu, Mahantesh and Shwetha. Music man Ritwik Muralidhar, who made his acting debut with last year’s Bang, serves as composer, while Bang director Shree Ganesh Parasuram has written lyrics for the title track that Aniruddha crooned.

The film, meanwhile, has Aniruddha in the role of a chef who runs a cloud kitchen out of his apartment. When a visitor to his flat ends up dead, it leads to a series of bizarre events, as well as a corrupt cop figuring that this would be a good opportunity to squeeze Chidambara and make some money while settling the issue. How Chidambara deals with his predicament and finds a way to get himself out of it forms the crux of the movie.

Aniruddha, the son-in-law of late Sahasasimha Vishnuvardhan, gave his ailing career a fillip when he took on the lead role in Jothe Jotheyalli. The Kannada remake of the Marathi show Tula Pahate Pe, Jothe Jotheyalli was a love story revolving around Aniruddha’s Aryavardhan and Anu Sirimane, played by Megha Shetty – a relationship that faced challenges owing to their age difference.
