Sandeepa Dhar was last seen in Vikram Bhatt's Bisaat.
Sandeepa Dhar, who is going to be seen in Disney Quix’s upcoming TV series Chattis Aur Maina, had to master five dance forms within a week. She had to become proficient in Bollywood, Bhojpuri, Belly Dance, Kathak, and a romantic couple dance for the series. The actress had only seven days to not only learn the five dance forms, but also shoot for them.
Sandeepa is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer, so Kathak was a new technique for her, which she had to master from scratch. Belly dancing was also a form she wasn’t proficient in, till the web series happened.
The actress shared in a statement that Belly dance and Kathak were completely new to her and she had barely 2-3 hours to learn the choreography and understand the techniques for belly dance.
Talking about her experience with the dance form, she added that the techniques of kathak are completely different from bharatnatyam, which she is trained in, so she had to pick up the hand movements, chakkars and expressions really quickly to match the schedule. She said, “It was a major task since with Indian classical one cannot afford to do a sub-standard job."
Calling it a challenge, she further mentioned that earning new dance forms like Belly Dance and Kathak, and shooting for them back-to-back was definitely hectic, but it also gave her immense satisfaction to put her best foot forward. She mentioned, "Chattis Aur Maina made me push my boundaries and deliver my best with a deadline of seven days.”
The series is all set to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on May 28. Apart from Chattis Aur Maina, Sandeepa was a part of MumBhai and Bisaat. All her projects have been released in the midst of the pandemic.
