Recently, producer-turned-actor RK Suresh had bagged the Kerala and Tamil Nadu theatrical rights of Seenu Ramasamy's Maamanithan. A few days ago, he had announced that the Vijay Sethupathi-starrer will hit the screens on May 6. He also said that Visithiran, which has him playing the lead role, will have a theatrical release on May 20.
However, he has changed his plans now. According to his latest tweet, Maamanithan and Visithiran have exchanged their release dates. Visithiran will make it to theatres on May 6, and Maamanithan will arrive only on May 20.
Arun Vijay's Yaanai is another movie which had earlier announced its arrival on May 6. Similarly, Sivakarthikeyan's Don and Vikram's Cobra are other Tamil movies which will be released in the month of May. The former will hit the screens on May 13 while the latter is expected to release on May 26.
Vijay Sethupathi's multi-starrer project, Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, was earlier announced as a release on April 28, and the actor felt the rom-com needed to have adequate space between his next release. That's said to be the reason for Maamanithan getting pushed by a couple of weeks.
Maamanithan, which has Gayathrie playing the female lead in it, has been produced by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The music director has joined hands with his father, the legendary Ilaiyaraaja for the first time, to compose music for the movie. The film's teaser was released a few months ago.
M Sukumar and Sreekar Prasad have handled the movie's cinematography and editing respectively. KPAC Lalitha, Guru Somasundaram, Jewel Mary, Anikha and Ganja Karuppu are a few others who will be seen essaying prominent roles in the family drama which was completed long ago.
