The film, directed by P Vasu, has Kangana Ranaut and Raghava Lawrence in the lead
Vettaiyan and Chandramukhi are all set for a grand re-entry as director P Vasu's Chandramukhi 2 is gearing up to hit screens on September 28. The film, which was originally supposed to release on September 15, along with Vishal and SJ Suryah's Mark Antony, got postponed due to the delay in VFX, according to Lyca Productions, which is bankrolling the film.
Chandramukhi 2 censored
The film has been issued the U/A certificate and the runtime is said to be 2 hours and 35 minutes. Chandramukhi 2 will now release on the new date as planned. Chandramukhi 2 is said to be Raghava Lawrence's first pan-India release, and with Kangana Ranaut being part of the star cast, the film is likely to appeal in the Hindi market as well. The film will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.
Raththam and Parking postponed
Earlier, the festival weekend was packed with a number of releases, which included Jayam Ravi's Iraivan, Siddharth's Chiththa, Harish Kalyan's Parking and Vijay Antony's Ratham. With Chandramukhi 2 getting added to the mix, the weekend became overcrowded. Soon, Vijay Antony's Raththam and Harish Kalyan's Parking team pushed their respective film's releases. So, Chandramukhi 2 will be clashing with Jayam Ravi's Iraivan and Siddharth's Chiththa on September 28.
Chandramukhi 2 cast and crew
The plot revolves around Vettaiyan and Chandramukhi, the characters essayed by Rajinikanth and Jyotika in the 2005 movie, which was also helmed by P Vasu. It is to be noted that Chandramukhi itself was a remake of Fahadh Faasil's iconic Malayalam film, Manichitrathazhu (1993). Vadivelu, Radikaa Sarathkumar, Lakshmi Menon, Subiksha, Rao Ramesh, Mahima Nambiar and Ravi Mariya are part of the star cast. Music is by MM Keeravani. The film marks Kangana Ranaut's third outing in Tamil after Dhaam Dhoom and Thalaivi, a biopic of former TN Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
