With just two days to go for the release of Chandramukhi 2, the promotions for the film are in full swing. Chandramukhi 2 stars Raghavana Lawrence and Kangana Ranaut in the lead and the duo will essay the roles of Vettaiyan and Chandramukhi in the sequel.

Raghava Lawrence meets Rajinikanth ahead of release
The Chandramukhi 2 actor sought the blessings of the original Vettaiyan, Superstar Rajinikanth, ahead of the film's release. The actor dropped in at the Superstar's residence and shared a picture in which he is seen hugging the senior actor and falling at his feet. He later wrote on his social media handle, "Hi friends and fans, Today I met my Thalaivar and Guru @rajinikanth to wish him for jailer’s blockbuster success and got blessings for #Chandramukhi2 release on September 28th. I’m so happy. Thalaivar is always great. Guruve Saranam (sic)."

Lyca Productions, which is bankrolling the film, too, wrote, "Couldn’t have asked for a better beginning for the day Got the blessings from our Thalaivar @rajinikanth for #Chandramukhi2 His aura & positivity is always unmatchable! The OG Vettaiyan Superstar & our Vettaiyan @offl_Lawrence (sic). It is to be noted that Raghava Lawrence had sought the blessings of Rajinikanth before he began working on the project.

Ensemble star cast
The film is said to mark the re-entry of Vettaiyan and Chandramukhi, played by Rajinikanth and Jyotika in the original, Chandramukhi (2005). The film was helmed by P Vasu, who is also the director of the sequel. Vadivelu, who had played Murugesan, has been retained from the original. The rest of the star cast includes Radikaa Sarathkumar, Lakshmi Menon, Mahima Nambiar and Rao Ramesh to name a few.

The Manichitrathazhu connection
Chandramukhi is a remake of Faasil's iconic Malayalam film Manichitrathazhu, which had Shobana, Mohanlal and Suresh Gopi in the lead. The pscyhological horror film is considered a cult film in the genre.
