"I used to pour dettol and phenyl on the floor," shared Chandan.
Infected 2030 is a movie that has been receiving immense love for how it portrays something real. The movie, which is Chandan P. Singh’s brainchild, also happens to be his first film to release in India.
The writer, actor and producer spoke to OTTplay about his preparation for the film, among many other things. He revealed that the cast went to the extent that they did not even wash their face for three days, which is when the shoot was completed.
When we asked him about his acting process, Chandan shared an experience from the sets of Infected 2030. “It depends. On the sets of Infected 2030, I used to pour dettol and phenyl on the floor, which made Noyrika and our DOP sick. We didn’t even wash our face so we look sick and ugly,” he said.
While Infected 2030 is his debut film in India, Chandan has made films which are part of festivals and are yet to release in India. Ask him a tentative date for their release and he says, “Next year for sure.”
Chandan added that it was the fact that nobody came to even their balconies at home after COVID-19, which became his inspiration for writing Infected 2030. “I would see a lot of news channels and there was chaos everywhere. I used to think about how a couple would behave when one person would get infected. When I went to my balcony, it was empty. I started understanding the value of relationships. My movie is all about a relationship.”
Explaining why his title has 2030 when COVID-19 pandemic struck in 2020, he mentioned, “We never know till how long will this last. It could be a lifetime. 2030 was just an idea.”
Chandan mentioned that he is now working on a new script. “I’m writing a script called 3 businessmen, which is a dark comedy. It’s based in Uttarakhand,” he signed off.
