The upcoming film will see Sharma essay the role of Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami, who is regarded as one of the greatest women fast bowlers in the history of the sport. According to Netflix, the film will revolve around the story of how the cricketer "moves up the ladder despite the hindrances posed by misogynistic politics to fulfil her dream of playing cricket for India."
The actress was last seen in the 2018 Aanand L. Rai directorial Zero, which also starred Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. Interestingly, Zero also marked Khan’s last film, and the actor is also returning to screens next year, with Pathaan.
The upcoming film is directed by Prosit Roy, who had previously collaborated with Sharma in the 2018 film Pari. In addition to Sharma, the upcoming film also features Renuka Shahane and Mahesh Thakur in pivotal roles.
Chakda Xpress will premiere on Netflix on February 2, 2023.
