Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa from Black Panther will never be recast, says Marvel executive

Marvel chief Kevin Feige had also previously said that the studio has no intentions of reviving Chadwick Boseman's character.

Chadwick Boseman’s character T’Challa will appear in any future Marvel project, a studio executive recently said. Marvel chief Kevin Feige had also previously said that the studio has no intentions of reviving T'Challa.

I’m being quite honest, you will not see T’Challa in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe),” Nate Moore, VP of development at Marvel Studios recently said in an interview with The Ringer-verse Podcast, according to Collider.

Moore said that the studio is figuring out ways to mould the future of franchise accordingly: “[B]ecause I think we all feel so much of T'Challa in the MCU on the screen...is tied to Chadwick's performance.”

However, with the decision to shelf the character’s further involvement in the MCU come complications in the making of Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever. Moore said that Boseman’s absence from the film will serve as a “catharsis” for the audience “because [Boseman] and the universe are one in the same.”

Wakanda Forever is co-written and directed by Ryan Coogler. Not much is known about the plot, but it is believed that Coogler changed the story to accommodate Boseman’s absence.

Production on the film began this year, though there were some snags in its progress. Actor Letitia Wright was injured on set, which put the shooting on pause briefly. Others returning to the film are Lupita Nyong'o and Daniel Kaluuya.

Wakanda Forever is slated to hit cinemas on July 8 next year.
