A still from Chaaver

The upcoming Malayalam theatrical release of Chaaver, starring Kunchacko Boban and directed by Tinu Pappachan, is generating quite a lot of buzz. The makers have now released the lyrical video song Polika Polika to give viewers a taste of the film's genre. The film is described as a political thriller, which is confirmed by its trailer.

The song Polika Polika sees Kunchacko Boban and Arjun Ashokan's characters going on a journey. They appear to be hunted by someone as the film delves into the world of party politics and the use of grassroots workers as political pawns.

The song has a similar energy to Para Para from Kammattipaadam and Vetta Mrigam from Kuruthi, both of which were politically charged films that explored themes such as casteism, communalism, and the struggles of marginalised communities.

Going by the song Polika Polika, it appears that  Chaaver will tackle similarly relevant social issues. Stunning visuals of Kunchacko, Arjun, and traditional Theyyam figures from northern Kerala accompany the fast-paced track with powerful beats. Polika Polika is a gripping song that reflects Tinu's signature style of intense character portrayals and sequences.

Joy Mathew collaborates with Tinu Pappachan for Chaaver

Kunchacko has emphasised that Chaaver's story is highly realistic since it is written by Joy Mathew , who is known for his grounded films such as Uncle and Shutter. Despite this, the film's trailer and posters suggest that it will be a typical Tinu Pappachan movie, with intense action and gripping scenes.

Tinu's previous works, Ajagajantharam and Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil, were recognised more for their production quality than their storyline. However, when a writer like Joy, whose work has depth, collaborates with a director like Tinu, it is sure to offer something worth watching.

Kunchacko Boban in a never-before-seen role

Kunchacko has been trying something a different in his career with regard to his choice of characters. Audiences have witnessed his drastic transformations in Nayattu, Bheemante Vazhi, and Anjaam Pathiraa. The behind-the-scenes glimpses of his role in Chaaver suggest that he will portray a unique character never seen before in his career.
