Ajagajantharam and Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil director Tinu Pappachan’s next political action-thriller is all set to hit theatres. The team had wrapped up the shoot of the big budget movie, which is scripted by Joy Mathew, earlier this year and have been releasing teasers and motion posters that have kept the audience intrigued.

The movie, which has Kunchacko Boban Arjun Ashokan and Antony Varghese as part of the cast, is Tinu’s biggest project till date and the movie has been shot in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

Chaaver to clash with Asif Ali’s Kasaragold in theatres

Though the makers had announced that Chaaver will hit theatres on September 21, OTTplay has learnt that the makers could advance its release date by a week to September 14. This will set up a clash between Asif Ali and Mridul Nair's Kasargold that is expected to release on September 15.

Chaaver, thanks to the cult following of Tinu’s previous two action films, is probably the most anticipated among the three, even though Kasargold promises to be another thriller that features actors such as Sunny Wayne and Sreenath Bhasi too.

In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Tinu said, “Chaaver has Joy Mathew’s style of narration; it isn’t a movie where you have fights from start to end. That said, it has an action mood and makes a strong political statement.”

Could Chaaver complete a hat-trick of successes for its producers?

Chaaver was the third movie that was announced by its producers Kavya Films last year. Two of those - Unni Mukundan’s Malikappuram and Tovino Thomas’ 2018 – went on to be superhits, with the latter also becoming Malayalam’s highest-grossing Malayalam movie in history.

Of late, action thrillers have worked wonders in the Kerala box office; Rajinikanth’s Jailer and Antony Varghese’s RDX are the prime examples . The makers of Chaaver will be hoping the film too repeats that feat.
