For all those who have been worried about the health of the mellifluous singer Celine Dion, here is some update for you. The ‘My heart will go on’ singer has not been keeping too well of late. The singer’s sister spoke to Hello magazine in an interview, wherein she gave an update about Celine Dion’s health.

In the interview, Celine Dion’s sister Claudette Dion said that her sister was battling the exhaustive pain caused by ‘Stiff-Person Syndrome’ (an ailment that Celine Dion is suffering from). For the unversed, ‘Stiff-Person Syndrome’ happens to be a neurological disorder which is responsible for playing the spoilsport in Celine’s live performances for the past year. In the same interview, Claudette Dion said that it (Stiff-Person Syndrome) was an illness that they knew so little about. She added that her sister Celine Dion’s spasms were impossible to control.

For the unversed, let us tell you what exactly is the very-little known ‘Stiff-Person Syndrome’. As per the website of ‘National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke’, it states that, the ailment ‘Stiff Person Syndrome’ is a ‘rare, progressive neurological disorder. Symptoms may include stiff muscles in the trunk (torso), arms, and legs and greater sensitivity to noise, touch, and emotional distress, which can set off muscle spasms.

The same website also mentioned that the scientists are yet to find out the root cause of ‘Stiff-Person Syndrome’, but, as per the research, it is a result of an autoimmune response gone awry in the brain and spinal cord. And, as such, there is no cure for ‘Stiff-Person Syndrome’.

As for Celine Dion, she has often been referred to as the ‘Queen of Power Ballads’. Besides being the proud recipient of five Grammy Awards, the singer has, to her credit, achieved two Honorary Doctorates in Music degree from Berklee College of Music and Université Laval.
