Celebrity Cricket League: Jisshu U Sengupta and his team meet Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee
Jisshu U Sengupta and his team are still soaking in the spirit of joy after winning the Celebrity Cricket League this year. They defeated one of the strong contenders Karnataka Bulldozer last Sunday in Thiruvananthapuram by 12 runs. In 10 years, this is Bengal’s first champion trophy. After this win, Jissu said that he would not be happier than this moment even if he won the Oscars.
After winning the cup, Jisshu cried uncontrollably. On Saturday, however, he was spotted with a grin. After their win, Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee invited the team for tea at her residence. She felicitated the team. Arup Biswas was present there. Along with Jisshu, Jammy, Bonny, Rahul, and others went there.
Mamata Banerjee was seemingly surprised by seeing the team. She asked Rahul – who plays Shankar at Horo Gouri Pice Hotel, “You played in the tournament?” The actor replied that he was the Man Of The Series. Jisshu introduced the team to the CM as she greeted all of them with bouquets of flowers.
Meanwhile, Jisshu handed the trophy to Mamata Banerjee, who confirmed that she would keep a replica of the trophy at Alipore Museum. She also gifted the players Bengal’s traditional hand-woven cotton shawl. She also asked about Karnataka Bulldozer – the team that they defeated.
Jisshu requested Mamata Banerjee to allow them to use Eden Gardens. “All the other state teams get their state stadium,” he said. The chief minister ordered Arup Biswas to do the needful. She told the team, “You won and you deserve this.” CCL’s new season will begin next year in January and Bengal Tigers will play against Mumbai Heroes of Sohail Khan. That match may take place at Eden Gardens.
