The Celebrity Cricket League, the annual tournament of film stars engaged in spirited matches of cricket is back this week. The 10thedition of the tournament will begin in Sharjah this weekend. All eight teams – Mumbai Heroes, Bengal Tigers, Punjab De Sher, Kerala Strikers, Chennai Rhinos, Telugu Warriors, Bhojpuri Dabanggs and Karnataka Bulldozers – will be in Sharjah for the inaugural weekend, where the first set of matches will be played. There will be 5 matches between the 8 teams, with the Mumbai Heroes and Kerala Strikers having 2 each over the weekend.

From March 1 to 3 the teams will be in Hyderabad, where 6 matches will be played. The following weekend is then split between Chandigarh and Thiruvananthapuram and finally on March 15, the action moves to Vizag for the qualifiers and the finale. Interestingly, instead of having two semi-final matches featuring the top 4 teams, the first qualifier will be played between the top 2, after which there will be an eliminator between teams 3 and 4. This will be followed up by a second qualifier between the loser of the first qualifier and the winner of the eliminator, meaning that one team may get a second shot at the finale after all.

Four-time winners Telugu Warriors are the defending champions and will look at taking the trophy home yet again, but given that most of the teams are vying for a shot at glory, there is bound to be some scintillating action on the cricket field. In the past, all the teams have played really competitive matches that would give professional athletes a run for their money.
