CBI 5: The Brain release date: When and where to watch this Mammootty-starrer investigative thriller online

The announcement of a fifth instalment to the popular CBI series was lapped up with excitement by Malayalam film lovers. The film which was titled CBI5: The Brain had K Madhu at its helm and hit the screens on May 1. Mammootty's portrayal of the iconic character Sethurama Iyer was the prime attraction of the film which opened to mixed response.

SN Swamy, who has penned story and screenplay for the previous instalments, was the writer this time, too. The return of veteran actor Jagathy Sreekumar to silver screen after a decade-long hiatus was another highlight of the movie which featured Mukesh, Renji Panicker, Saikumar, Ramesh Pisharody, Asha Sharath and Anoop Menon in pivotal roles.

What's CBI 5: The Brain about?

The investigative thriller begins with a senior officer narrating a complex case they cracked a few years ago under the leadership of Iyer to newbies of the department. The case revolves around the death of a few people hailing from different backgrounds at regular intervals.

A common connection between the deceased makes cops take up the mysterious case, but it eventually gets transferred to CBI. How Iyer, along with his team, cracks the mystery behind the unique case and finds the killer forms the rest of the story.

When and where to watch CBI 5: The Brain online?

The movie is dropping on Netflix on June 12. This is the second film of Mammootty to release on Netflix in the pandemic era, after One which was released in 2021. Movie buffs who missed watching CBI 5: The Brain on the big screen are eagerly waiting for its digital release.

Prithviraj-starrer Jana Gana Mana is another Mollywood movie that will release on the OTT giant. The political thriller will drop on Netflix on June 2.
