CBI 5: Kaniha joins the cast of the much-anticipated Mammootty starrer

The movie also features actors including Jagathy Sreekumar, Mukesh, Asha Sharath, Renji Panicker, Soubin Shahir, Ramesh Pisharody and Sai Kumar

Mammootty’s return as Sethurama Iyer CBI is one of the most-anticipated roles in Mollywood. The fifth movie in the CBI franchise will mark the return of the iconic CBI team, Malayalam cinema has ever seen. According to the latest reports, actor Kaniha has also joined the team, which is equipped with a bunch of talented actors already.

Kaniha took to her official Instagram handle to announce the news. Sharing a picture of herself with the director K Madhu, she also penned a note in the caption. “So happy to be working with the legendary K Madhu sir and S N Swamy. It’s such a pleasure to have joined the CBI 5 team. Can’t wait to share screen with my most favourite actors again. 2022 I’m already loving you,” it reads.

The shoot for the movie, which is tentatively titled as CBI 5, was previously delayed after Mammootty tested positive for coronavirus. However, the makers have resumed their shoot in full swing recently, and also revealed some interesting cast additions.

In an exclusive chat with OTTplay, scriptwriter Swamy had said that Asha Sharath and Dileesh Pothan will be handling two prominent roles in the movie. The former will be essaying the role of Kerala’s chief minister, while Asha will be seen as a lawyer. He also added that both of them are currently shooting their portions.

The movie also features actors including Renji Panicker, Soubin Shahir, Ramesh Pisharody and Sai Kumar. It will also witness the comeback of legendary actor Jagathy Sreekumar, who reprises his iconic role Vikram from the previous movies, while Mukesh will reprise the role of Chacko.
