Dhanush-starrer Captain Miller hit the big screen on January 12 as part of Pongal celebrations.
After earning more than Rs 5 crore in its third week of theatrical release, Captain Miller succeeded in becoming Dhanush's highest-grossing film in Kerala. Because of its cast and direction, the movie generated a lot of excitement before its premiere.
Given that Dhanush's previous films, Thiruchitrambalam and Vaathi, shocked everyone by grossing over Rs 100 crore in ticket sales, Captain Miller was predicted to be the biggest hit of the actor’s career. Arun Matheswaran has directed this period drama.

Film enthusiasts gave Captain Miller mostly rave reviews but the film fell short of expectations at the box office. The film hit the big screen on January 12 as part of Pongal celebrations.
It competed with Jayaram's medical thriller Abraham Ozler, Sivakarthikeyan's science fiction drama Ayalaan, and Mahesh Babu's action-drama Guntur Kaaram at the box office in the state during the long weekend due to the Pongal festival. Despite Dhanush having his best-ever opening weekend, the film did not sustain strong momentum in theatres following its first weekend of release. On its first day of release, the movie reportedly brought in about Rs 13 crore worldwide.
The movie will be available to stream on Netflix soon. The film is expected to make its OTT debut following a four-week theatrical run.
Kannada superstar Shivarajkumar, Priyanka Arul Mohan, Sundeep Kishan, Edward Sonnenblick, Aditi Balan, Nivedhithaa Sathish and John Kokken are also among the stellar cast of Captain Miller.

Dhanush appears as Analeesan, also known as Captain Miller, who represents a victim of a subjugated community in India ruled by the British. He enlists in the imperial army out of a desire to be free from caste-based discrimination.
Miller's life, however, drastically changes when he is compelled to shoot his fellow citizens during a nonviolent demonstration. He rebels against the British Empire, refusing to heedlessly follow orders and turning into their worst nightmare as a result of the senseless violence that traumatised him.
