Sankranthi 2024 was one hell of a ride for Telugu cinema as some big films were released in the second week of January 2024. Out of the four films that were released, a low-budget film, HanuMan shocked one and all and became the Sankranthi winner at the box office.

Since the 14th of January 2024, there has not been a single Telugu biggie that has hit the screens. This Friday too, the release list is empty as no Telugu film is coming out. But the dubbed versions of Ayalaan and Captain Miller will be out on January 26, 2024, as a Republic Day Special.

Though these films have big stars Dhanush and Sivakarthikeyan in lead roles, sadly, there are no takers for these films within the industry and trade. The bookings have started already and the occupancy is quite low. The dubbing rights of these films have been sold for nominal prices as well.

The special aspect is that both these films have been good hits at the Tamil box office but still, there is not much buzz here in Telugu. Not many even know such films are coming out in the first place. There are absolutely zero promotions from the ones who will release the film in Telugu.

In certain areas of Telugu states, these two films are not even getting released. Captain Miller is being released by Asian Cinemas and Suresh Productions. Looking at the way things are going, nothing will happen in the next two days or so. This is a bad sign for these films before the release.

Captain Miller has Dhanush in a lead role and his performance has been appreciated by the critics. He has a decent craze in Telugu states and Captain Miller will only pick up if word of mouth is good on day one.

On the other hand, Ayalaan stars Sivakarthikeyan who made his debut in Telugu with Prince and sadly, does not have much of a following here. The same is the case with his film as well. Ayalaan has a very good concept and the audience will be interested only if the film starts on a good note.

Watch Tejas, Expendables 4, Australian Open, Cubicles 3, and more on OTTplay, by subscribing to the Jhakaas monthly pack, which provides access to 22 OTTs at just ₹49 for the first month.

Also, both these films have a limited release in Telugu states which also restricts the audience's choice to watch the film. While films HanuMan, Guntur Kaaram, and Naa Saami Ranga are still finding takers in various areas of Telugu states, we need to see how Ayalaan and Captain Miller will perform at the box office.
