Captain America: New World Order has been officially announced, with Anthony Mackie headlining the film. The actor who was known as The Winter Soldier, aka Sam Wilson, will be playing the role of Captain America in full swing in the upcoming film.
Anthony Mackie, who is reprising his role as Sam Wilson, also known as Captain America: The Winter Soldier; Carl Lumbly, who plays Isaiah Bradley; Danny Ramirez, who plays Joaquin Torres; and director Julius Onah were all there for the event. Along with Shira Haas playing Sabra, Tim Blake Nelson reprises his role as Dr. Samuel Sterns from The Incredible Hulk in 2008.
Nelson humorously remarked to the audience that they teased the leader, and promises were fulfilled 14 short years later. Nelson's The Leader last appeared as Samuel Sterns, the first stage of the infamous Hulk adversary, in the 2008 movie The Incredible Hulk.
As the New World Order team ascended the stage, director Julius Onah described the movie as a "paranoid thriller." Mackie remarked of the project that he was nervous and delighted. It's everything he imagined it to be.
Mackie last appeared in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier a Disney+ series, where he first donned the Captain America shield and unveiled a brand-new nationalistic look. Emily VanCamp played Sharon Carter, a former CIA agent from the Captain America movies, while Sebastian Stan co-starred as Bucky Barnes, also known as the Winter Soldier. Additionally, Wyatt Russell was introduced as the fake Captain America, John Walker, who later changed into the evil US Agent. According to Variety, Daniel Bruhl returned to the series as the nefarious Baron Zemo, and Maverick actor Ramirez was introduced as Joaquin Torres, a new ally to Wilson's Cap.
Regarding the plot, Mackie commended the cast and the writing, calling the entire experience amazing, with Feige adding that this is now a movie rather than a TV show and it's going to be gorgeous!
The Marvel Cinematic Universe's five future films include Captain America: New World Order. Dalan Musson and Malcolm Spellman, who also worked on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier wrote the screenplay, which was directed by Luce and Cloverfield Paradox. Together with Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, Spellman produces.
On May 3, 2024, New World Order is expected to be released in theatres.
