Trade experts think Baby John looks good, and advance bookings for the highly anticipated film starring Varun Dhawan have begun. Their estimates put the actioner's opening day earnings at Rs 16 crore, with first weekend receipts set to exceed Rs 50 crore. The film's director, Kalees, and producer, Atlee, appear to be aiming for straightforward money at the box office to appeal to the general public.

Cautious comparisons with other blockbusters

As reported in Mid Day, trade experts remain cautious when comparing it to other offerings of the year. Girish Wankhede informed the tabloid that the data is currently unavailable due to the increasing number of bookings. Given the close proximity to the release of Pushpa 2—The Rule they were unable to commence bookings earlier. This compromise has negatively impacted the collections. Neither Stree 2 nor Pushpa 2 can compare to its collections. However, it boasts Atlee's name, Varun's star power, and an excellent soundtrack. From Monday on, the film is likely to continue.

Plot synopsis of Baby John

As per reports, in Baby John DCP Satya Verma IPS murders Babbar Sher's son for a serious crime; the two become embroiled in a power struggle that ends with Babbar destroying Satya's family. Since his daughter Khushi is the only one who managed to escape, Satya pretends to die so he and Kushi can live a quiet life in Kerala as Baby John. Satya takes vengeance on Babbar Sher and protects Khushi after the latter threatens his tranquil life upon learning of his existence.

Earlier, while talking about the film, Varun said that there was logic to Atlee's film, and he explained that they had to alter the film's geography significantly. By viewing it as an adaptation rather than a true remake the actor believes they have achieved what was necessary.

Additionally, he mentioned that the film brought attention to actual situations concerning the safety of women in India and offered a modern perspective on parenting.
