Byomkesh fans, heads up! Byomkesh 7 is headed towards its digital premiere on the popular Bengali streaming platform Hoichoi. Starring Anirban Bhattacharya as the truth-seeker (Satyanweshi) Byomkesh Bakshi, the seventh instalment of the franchise of the popular Bengali sleuth will take viewers through another intriguing story from the detective’s world. Soumik Halder has directed the series. SVF Entertainment has backed the series. The plot is drawn from Sharadindu Bandopadhyay’s story Chorabali.

Who is Byomkesh Bakshi and what is the plot of Byomkesh 7?
For the uninitiated, the trailer offers a peek into Byomkesh Bakshi, the truth-seeking sleuth. Answering the question of ‘What does Byomkesh Bakshi do’ in the trailer a la Breaking the Fourth wall style, Byomkesh says, “He enters the mind of bad guys and uncovers the truth.” The trailer introduces the characters of the story. A little girl is assigned a tutor called Harinath, and apparently, the teacher goes absconding with the book of accounts and a fat wad of cash from the treasury of the family. When Byomkesh is tasked to solve the case, he deduces that Harinath has been murdered. The seasoned Bengali sleuth must now, through the web of intrigue, deceit, lies, and danger, seek the truth. Observant, sharp-witted, and especially a man of cool nerves in any demanding situation, Byomkesh’s popularity has catapulted over the years with the Hoichoi original series.
Which stories have been taken up in the previous seasons?
The first season strung together four stories of Sharadindu Bandopadhyay, namely, Satyaneshi Pather Kanta Artham Anartham, and Makorshar Rosh. Season 2 of Byomkesh was based on the story Rakter Daag. Season 3 followed the story of Shajaru’r Kanta where Byomkesh tries to solve a trail of serial murders using a sharpened porcupine quill while Season 4 is based on the story Agnibaan, wherein Byomkesh’s neighbour is found dead under mysterious circumstances. The plot of Season 5 was drawn from the two stories, Dushtochakra and Khnuji Khnuji Nari. Byomkesh Season 6 is adapted from the story Mogno Mainak.
