The official announcement on the project was made three weeks ago,
Vadivelu with Rajinikanth
Fans of Rajinikanth were excited to the core when Sun Pictures announced that they will be producing the star's next project, which has been titled as Thalaivar 169. Nelson Dilipkumar, who last directed Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Doctor (streaming on Netflix), will be helming the project. He is currently busy with the works of Vijay-starrer Beast which is expected to release in April.
It was also revealed that Anirudh will be composing music for Thalaivar 169; the film marks the composer's third outing with the star after Petta (streaming on Netflix) and Darbar (streaming on Amazon Prime Video).
It is now heard that none other than Vadivelu is in talks to play a crucial character in the film. P Vasu's Kuselan (streaming on Netflix) was the last movie in which Rajini and Vadivelu acted together. Though there were reports of the veteran comedian sharing screen space with Superstar in Lingaa (streaming on Zee5 and Jio Cinema), it didn't materialize due to reasons best known to the makers.
Movie buffs are eagerly waiting to know if their favourite stars will come together in the film which is said to have ample dose of comedy. The comedy scenes featuring both the actors in P Vasu's Chandramukhi (streaming on MX Player) brought the house down.
Rajinikanth's last outing, Annaatthe (streaming on Netflix) directed by Siva, opened to mixed reports, and hence, fans of the star are hoping that the next movie meets their expectations. It was heard that Desingh Periyasamy will be directing the star's next movie, but the project didn't take off.
There are reports that Arunraja Kamaraj will be directing Rajinikanth 170 and that Boney Kapoor will produce it. But the producer was quick to quash it as a rumour through his Twitter handle.
