Buzz! Kamal Haasan and Ranjith to team up; the latter impresses the former with a story

Kamal Haasan and Pa Ranjith

It is known that Pa Ranjith, who is on a high after the success of Amazon Prime Video's Arya-starrer Sarpatta Parambarai is busy with Natchathiram Nagargirathu, which stars Kalidas Jayaram, Dushara Vijayan, Ashok Selvan and Shabeer Kallarakkal in pivotal roles. The first schedule of the movie was wrapped up a month ago in Pondicherry.

It is now heard that the director is likely to join hands with none other than Kamal Haasan. Apparently, the duo met recently on Kamal's 67th birthday at his residence and the filmmaker narrated a story to the Ulaganayagan, and he is said to be impressed with it. Kamal, we hear, asked Ranjith to develop the story. An official announcement on the same is awaited, though.

After directing Rajinikanth in two back-to-back projects, it will be interesting to see if Ranjith would be able to convince Kamal for a movie.

Meanwhile, Kamal is currently busy with Lokesh Kanagaraj's Vikram the teaser of which was out recently on his birthday. He is expected to complete Shankar's magnum opus Indian 2 next month. Though Kamal was supposed to join Vetri Maaran's untitled movie next, the delay in the director's Suriya-starrer Vaadivaasal made him ask some more time to Ulaganayagan. The actor also has Mahesh Narayanan's yet-to-be-titled movie.

The buzz is that if Vaadivaasal takes more time than what Vetri Maaran is planning, Kamal might give a nod to Ranjith depending on Mahesh's dates. The director's Sarpatta Parambarai which was a comeback of sorts for Arya, had its television premiere on Kalaignar TV on Deepavali. He was recently in the news when he went gaga over Suriya-starrer Jai Bhim which premiered on Amazon Prime Video a week ago.
