The project was officially announced a few days ago by Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu,
Sivakarthikeyan and Goundamani
Mandela fame Madonne Ashwin is busy with his second project, titled Maaveeran, starring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead. The project was officially announced by Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu recently. The action flick will be released in Telugu as well under the title Mahaveerudu.
A short teaser of the movie was also unveiled by the team, revealing Siva's rugged appearance from the project which reminded us of the look Rajinikanth sported in Mani Ratnam's Thalapathi. The video also hinted at the superhero genre, though the makers are tight-lipped about it. There has been news doing the rounds that filmmaker Mysskin will play the antagonist in the movie.
Though he has essayed notable roles in a few movies like Super Deluxe, Savarakathi and Nandalala, this is the first time the acclaimed director is going to play a full-fledged negative role. As if this isn't enough, it is heard that veteran comedian Goundamani will also be part of the project.
The octogenarian actor, who has been part of hundreds of movies, was last seen in Vaaimai which was released in 2016. It was in 2015 that he made a comeback after five years with the project 49-O which had him playing the protagonist in it.
If everything goes well, the king of comedy will return after a six-year hiatus with Maaveeran. It would be interesting to see Siva and Goundamani sharing screen space. The former had mentioned earlier a few times that he has been a huge fan of the latter.
Philomin Raj handles editing for Maaveeran which has music by Bharath Sankar and cinematography by Vidhu Ayyanna. The movie, which was tentatively titled SK 22 till recently, is expected to elevate Siva's stardom to the next level. He's currently on a roll with back-to-back hits Doctor and Don.
