The sportsman can be seen in the IPL tournament this year playing for Punjab Kings.
After Irfan Pathan, it seems that cricketer Shikar Dhawan is all set to try his hand at acting this year. It was reported that Dhawan will be making his acting debut this year in a ‘mainstream’ film.
According to a report in Pinkvilla, Dhawan will play a ‘pivotal’ part in a film that is expected to be released sometime this year. The makers of the film had reportedly reached out to the cricketer a few months back, feeling that Dhawan ‘suited’ the character they had in mind for him. Being someone who has ‘huge respect’ for acting and actors, the sportsman is said to have agreed to the offer happily. A source also told the portal that Dhawan will play a full fledged role and not a cameo, in the film.
The cricketer had been photographed on the sets of Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandez’s film Ram Setu last year, leading to speculations that Dhawan will make his Bollywood debut with the film. But the source informed the portal that the film in question is not Ram Setu. The Abhishek Sharma directorial, which also stars Nushratt Bharuccha, is slated for release this year on Diwali.
If the news of Dhawan’s film is confirmed, Dhawan will not be the only cricketer making their film debut this year. Former cricketer Irfan Pathan will be making his film debut in the upcoming Ajay Gnanamuthu’s directorial Cobra, which also stars Vikram and Srinidhi Shetty.
