Ranbir and Aamir had briefly shared the screen in 2014’s PK, which also featured Anushka Sharma and Sushant Singh Rajput.
Reports have been making the rounds that Aamir Khan and Ranbir Kapoor will be reunited on screen soon yet again. Now it seems that Anurag Basu is in talks to helm the film.
According to a report in Pinkvilla, the Barfi director is currently in the process of writing a script for the film. The basic idea and concept for the film had been conceived by Aamir’s production banner, Aamir Khan Productions. Anurag is trying to flesh out the idea with his script, while working closely with the actors. The film was still in the very initial stages of development and Aamir and Ranbir will take a decision on making it only if the duo are satisfied with ‘the final output’.
Anurag himself recently commented on the news. Check out the filmmaker's reaction below:
The report also states that the actors were in no hurry to start work on the film as they were both well aware of the expectations audiences will have from the project. After spending the needed time on writing and getting the script ready, the film would move onto the pre-visualisation stage. A source told the portal that the project was ‘high on VFX’, and thus a risky endeavor. Aamir was keen on having a ‘visual blueprint’ of what the film will look like as well. He and Ranbir had given their agreement on the basic principle of the film, and the project is expected to go on floors sometime next year. The source also referred to the project as one of the ‘biggest cinematic spectacles’ in the country.
Reports about Aamir and Ranbir coming together for a new film had surfaced last year in November. The duo had briefly shared the screen in 2014's PK, where Ranbir appeared in a cameo. The Rajkumar Hirani directorial, which also featured Anushka Sharma and Sushant Singh Rajput, can be streamed on Netflix.
Aamir will next be seen alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan in Laal Singh Chaddha, which will hit theatres on August 11. Ranbir’s upcoming releases include Brahmastra, Shamshera, Luv Ranjan’s untitled film, and Animal.
