Pawan Kalyan and Sai Dharam Tej

Bro, the fantasy entertainer, starring Pawan Kalyan, Sai Dharam Tej in lead roles, arrives in theatres today. The film, a Telugu remake of ZEE5’s direct-to-OTT release Vinodhaya Sitham, is written and directed by Samuthirakani. Trivikram wrote the screenplay and dialogues for the entertainer jointly produced by People Media Factory and ZEE Studios. S Thaman scored the music for the same.

The story of Bro revolves around a self-centric, 20s something youngster Markandeya who considers himself as the lifeline of his family comprising a mother, two sisters and a younger brother. However, after a terrible road mishap and a supernatural encounter, his approach towards life, work and relationships take a drastic turn. Mark needs to make the most of his limited time.

While Pawan Kalyan fans are very aware that this isn’t a quintessential mass film, their responses on Twitter suggest they’re reasonably satisfied with the star and the film on the whole. Be it his comic timing or the throwback to his earlier films like Jalsa, Gudumba Shankar, Tammudu or his zen-like presence in the emotional sequences, Bro is an out-and-out Pawan Kalyan show, netizens believe.

Audiences have also liked the interval sequence where the magnanimity of Pawan Kalyan’s character is shown with great finesse. A section of listeners who weren’t kind to My Dear Markandeya during its song launch are enjoying the party number in theatres. There are mixed responses to Trivikram’s dialogues but his re-imagination of the original, ensuring mass appealing moments earned praise.

Priya Prakash Varrier, Rohini, Raja Chembolu, Yuva Lakshmi, Vennela Kishore, Ali Reza and Ketika Sharma too played crucial roles in the film. Sujith Vaassudev cranked the camera for the project which was edited by Navin Nooli. AS Prakash is the production designer and Neeta Lulla designed the costumes.
