Bridgerton's Emmy-winning hair and makeup designer Marc Pilcher dies of COVID-19 at 53

Marc Pilcher, who served as the hair and makeup designer for Netflix series Bridgerton, has passed away due to COVID-19 on 3 October (Sunday). He was 53.

Variety writes that the news of his death comes just weeks after Pilcher had won the Creative Emmy for his work. The outlet adds that Pilcher was double vaccinated and had no underlying healdh conditions. He had tested negative for the virus multiple times before and after his travels to the Los Angeles awards ceremony.

Pilcher has previously worked on Mary Queen of Scots starring Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie, for which he bagged an Academy Award nomination in 2019. He recently concluded work on The King's Man that has Stanley Tucci, Colin Firth, Gemma Areton, and Ralph Fiennes.

He also won three Hollywood Makeup Artist & Hairstyling Guild Awards for his work on Bridgerton, Downton Abbey and Mary Queen of Scots.

"Glamorous and extravagant, he brought his flair and style to every design. Never limited in his thought process for his creations, he pushed boundaries and created work never realized before," reads a part of the statement his friends and family had shared with Variety.

Nicola Coughlan, who played Penelope Featherington on Bridgerton paid tribute to Pilcher via an Instagram post. "He loved and cared for you all so much and my heart goes out to you all," she said.

She also wrote that it was tragic that he was taken away so young inspite of being double vaccinated. She also said that this should be a reminder for everyone that the pandemic is still out there, and the only way to avert is to use masks and get vaccinated.
