Netflix's Bridgerton has already been renewed for a second season.
A still from Bridgerton.
Bridgerton is a popular Netflix show that fans just could not get enough of last year and that’s what led the makers to announce a second season. Fans now have more reasons to rejoice as the makers have announced two more seasons, guaranteeing a total of four seasons of the hit show.
Bela Bajaria, VP global TV at Netflix, said in a statement, “The creative team, led by Shonda (Rhimes), knew the material and delivered a beautiful, emotional, romantic drama for our members. They have some exciting plans for the future, and we think audiences will continue to swoon for this show. We’re planning to be in the Bridgerton business for a long time to come.”
Confirming the news, its executive producer Rhimes, said in a statement, “Betsy and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to continue bringing the world of Bridgerton to a worldwide audience.”
The first season of the show focused on Duke of Hastings Simon Baset (Rege-Jean Page) and Daphne Basset (Phoebe Dynevor)’s love story.
Fans, however, might be up for some disappointment as Page has now left the show, in the middle of shooting the second season of Bridgerton. He had signed only a year’s contract with the makers, who decided to focus on the love story of the eight Bridgerton siblings.
The new season is believed to be revolving around Daphne’s older brother Anthony (Jonathan Bailey)’s love life. According to reports, the installment would be based on Julia Quinn’s The Viscount Who Loved Me.
