Bridgerton actor Phoebe Dynevor on second season: Regé-Jean Page's character will be referred a lot

Regé-Jean Page aka Simon Bassett is not a part of the second season of the Netflix series.

Phoebe Dynevor who will be reprising her role as Daphne in Bridgerton recently revealed that she was on the verge of quit acting before bagging the role in the Netflix series. During an interaction with Mirror UK, the actor recalled that she was living in Los Angeles for nine months and was set to pack her bags when the makers of Bridgerton called her to do a reading session with Regé-Jean Page.

Phoebe told the portal, "I got a call saying, ‘Can you come in and read with Regé next week?’ So I was like, ‘That’s annoying because I’ve got to move my flight. I hope it pays off’. I didn’t think anything of it. Then the next day they were like, ‘Netflix will pay for your flight back to London as you’ve got to be in rehearsals on Monday’. It was a crazy whirlwind."

While praising the characters of the Bridgerton Dynevor further said, "The roles were written so well, and such interesting female roles. I’d have taken it in a heartbeat."

Meanwhile, it was announced that Regé will not be a part of the second season which broke the hearts of millions of fans. Talking about the same, his co-star Pheobe said, "He’ll be referred to a lot. I think we’ll see the baby. We’ll focus on Daphne’s relationship with the Bridgertons. It’s exciting for us to be back, but sad Regé isn’t with us."

Earlier this year, the renewal of Bridgerton for the second season was announced. Soon after that, the makers announced that the show will have third and fourth seasons.

The series is created by Chris Van Dusen and produced by Shonda Rhimes. Bridgerton is based on the novels by Julia Quinn while Julie Andrews is the narrator of the series.
