BREAKING! Mansoor Ali Khan apologises for sexist comments, says, 'My co-star Trisha, please forgive me'

Mansoor Ali Khan has apologised to Trisha. The actor has sent out a statement in which he has said, "My co-star Trisha, please forgive me."

The Tamil Nadu police had earlier booked the actor for his derogatory remarks against Trisha, with whom he worked in Lokesh Kanagaraj's Leo. The film starred Vijay in the lead.

Mansoor Ali Khan was booked under Sections 354 A (Sexual harassment) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to outrage the modesty of women) of the Indian Penal code. The action was taken after the National Commission of Women had directed the Tamil Nadu police to register a case in this matter.

What Mansoor Ali Khan said?
Mansoor Ali Khan had earlier said that when he heard that Trisha was playing the leading lady in the film, he hoped that there would be a 'bedroom scene' with her. However, he complained that they didn't even share screen space in the film.

The remark snowballed into a major controversy after Trisha lashed out at the actor and vowed that she will never ever work with him again. Trisha had written on social media, "I strongly condemn this and find it sexist, disrespectful, misogynistic, repulsive and in bad taste. He can keep wishing but I am grateful never to have shared screen space with someone as pathetic as him and I will make sure it never happens for the rest of my film career as well (sic)."

Later the film's director Lokesh Kanagaraj and the producers, too, called out Mansoor Ali Khan for his obnoxious comment.  Actors Chiranjeevi, Khushbu Sundar, Malavika Mohanan and singer Chinmayi all lashed out at Mansoor Ali Khan.

Despite the initial backlash, Mansoor Ali Khan had first said that he wouldn't apologise and that he had passed the comment in a lighter vein. "What is a rape scene in cinema? Does that happen for real?" he had said.

Later, when Nadigar Sangam sent a notice to him in this regard, the actor went on to threaten the body and said that he would sue them.
