The makers of Bramayugam released the first-look poster of Mammootty’s character from the Rahul Sadasivan film
There are some films where Mammootty’s laugh made the audience laugh with him and then there are some like in Munariyippu, where it shocked the viewers out of their skin. The one in Bramayugam, as revealed by the makers on the megastar’s birthday on September 7, promises to be the latter.
The first look of Mammootty’s character from Bhoothakaalam and Red Rain director Rahul Sadasivan ’s film was released online, as part of the select few updates planned on the actor’s 72nd birthday. And it has already got the fans hyped up about Mammootty’s upcoming release.

A period horror thriller with Mammootty as an antagonist
The character poster had Mammootty wearing a beaded chain, while flaunting his stained teeth and an evil laugh. Bramayugam, which is also scripted by Rahul Sadasivan and has dialogues by TD Ramakrishnan, had gone on floors last month in Kochi. The film has Arjun Ashokan and Amalda Liz as part of its cast. Apart from it being a period horror film , what truly got the fans excited is that the movie reportedly has Mammootty essaying the role of a veteran who practices dark magic.
Last time, Mammootty had played such a role was in Adharvam in 1989. There are also reports that Mammootty essays a negative role in the film, something that he hasn’t shied away from since the pandemic. His direct-to-OTT release, Puzhu, being a prime example.
The team had completed a schedule last month and is currently on a week-long schedule break. They are expected to resume the shoot of the film from September 8. Bramayugam, which will be released in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, is produced by Y Not Studios.
Mammootty’s next release, Kannur Squad
The superstar’s next release will be debutant filmmaker Roby Varghese Raj’s Kannur Squad, which will see him in the role of a cop again. The investigative thriller, which is also produced by Mammootty Kampany, was shot in Kerala and Maharashtra, and also stars Deepak Parambol, Manoj KU and Shabareesh Varma.
