The makers of Mammootty’s horror film Bramayugam recently dropped a promising teaser of the film on social media. A group of netizens have been comparing the teaser with the acclaimed film Tumbbad.

Bramayugam, the highly anticipated project that stars Mammootty as the central character, is gearing up for a grand theatrical release. The horror thriller marks the megastar’s first on-screen collaboration with young filmmaker Rahul Sadasivan, who is best known for the acclaimed film Bhoothakaalam. The makers revealed the highly promising Bramayugam teaser on social media recently, and it instantly won the internet.

The Malayalam cinema audiences are totally blown away by Mammootty’s intimidating presence in the official teaser and are now eagerly waiting for the release of the movie. However, a group of cine-goers have been comparing the teaser with the highly acclaimed 2018-released horror thriller, Tumbbad.

Bramayugam makers react to comparisons with Tumbbad

A section of cinema analysts on social media platforms have been comparing the Bramayugam teaser with Tumbbad. Some of them pointed out that the overall mood of the teaser is quite similar to the highly acclaimed folk horror film, which was released in 2018. A few of the cine-goers were even wondering if the Mammootty starrer was an adaptation or remake of the Rahil Anil Barve directorial. However, the makers of Bramayugam have now reacted to speculations.

Night Shift Studios, the production banner that bankrolls the Rahul Sadasivan directorial, recently ended all speculations with a clarification issue on the Bramayugam teaser page on YouTube. “It gives me Tumbbad vibes, Love from Tamil Nadu,” commented a cine-goer. However, the production banner rubbished the same and clarified that the film has no similarities with any movie. “It is not close to any movie that’s ever produced. Experience it FDFS and let us know your valuable feedback. Trust us you will love it,” commented the banner, along with a ‘ghost’ emoji.

Bramayugam teaser promises a black-and-white cinematic experience

The recently released official teaser of Bramayugam has confirmed that the Mammootty starrer is going to be a never-seen-before black-and-white cinematic experience for Malayalam cinema audiences. The teaser features Arjun Ashokan as the protagonist, who enters a mysterious crumbling mana (mansion), while the megastar appears as the mysterious host. The veteran actor’s sequences in the teaser confirmed that he is indeed playing a negative role in the film.

Along with Mammootty and Arjun Ashokan, the teaser also featured the supporting characters, played by Sidharth Bharathan, Amalda Liz, and Manikandan R Achari. The highly anticipated Rahul Sadasivan directorial is reportedly slated to hit the big screens in February. The release date is expected to be officially announced, along with the trailer for the film, very soon.
