The movie, which also has Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna and a rumoured cameo by Shah Rukh Khan, is set to hit theatres on September 9
A screen grab from Brahmastra's trailer
Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt promised a visual treat for the audience with the trailer of Ayan Mukherji’s Brahmastra – Part One: Shiva and true to their words, the promo video, which dropped on the internet today, delivered! Packed with superhero avatars, stellar cast and high-quality VFX, the movie’s trailer is already trending across social media platforms and fans have taken to Twitter to rave about the movie and share their expectations.
The nearly three-minute trailer introduces the viewers to the world of astras, with several mythological references and settings, finding their way in the video. It starts off with Nagarjuna’s Anish, who wields the Nandi Astra, ramming into a truck. This is followed by Amitabh Bachchan’s Guru narrating the tale of the different astras – Jal, Vayu and Agni – and how these energies have existed since ancient times through these weapons. He further states how a young man named Shiva is tied to the destiny of Brahmastra, the weapon the supercedes all the others.
The movie, which is made on a massive budget, is one of the biggest Bollywood ventures to hit the screens post pandemic and that alone means that there is a lot riding on the film. Here’s how the audience reacted on Twitter following the movie trailer’s release:
‘Bollywood is back in the game’
Several lauded the film and claimed that it would be a ‘game changer’ not just for Bollywood but also superhero action movies in India. The audience were also pleased that the movie didn’t ape its Western counterparts and had a different setting.
Stunning visual effects
The movie is heavy on visual effects, considering that it's a fantasy adventure film and the characters have all mythological avatars. While many praised the VFX, there were some who thought if too much attention was given to the technology rather than the story.
Spotting Shah Rukh Khan
It was long rumoured that Shah Rukh Khan was part of the film and so, it was a given that his die-hard fans would pause every frame to spot the superstar. Just minutes after its release, fans spotted several screenshots, which they thought was SRK. We will have to wait till the movie releases on September 9 in theatres worldwide to find out who was right.
