The film is slated to be released in theatres on September 9
Brahmastra is inching closer to completion. The film has entered the last leg of its shoot recently. Ayan Mukerji’s magnum opus boasts of a stellar cast, led by Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. The director recently revealed which cricketer he would have chosen for a role in his upcoming project, if he could have his pick.
Ayan, along with Ranbir and Alia, made an appearance on Cricket Live on Star Sports ahead of the inaugural Tata IPL game, where the director was asked which cricketer he would pick to cast in Brahmastra. Saying that his film needed someone who had a ‘true superstar spirit’, he said he would pick Virat Kohli. Ayan also delightfully added that for every cricket question he was asked, the answer would always be Virat.
Ranbir and Alia too were not far behind in talking about their connections to the world of cricket. Ranbir spoke of some delightful moments he shared with MS Dhoni while the two played football together. He had nothing but good things to say of the cricketer. Ranbir praised Dhoni's humility and genius. The actor also said that he had been lucky enough to play football with most members of the Indian cricket team as well.
Alia revealed that her favourite players were Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, MS Dhoni and Bumrah.
Brahmastra also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Dimple Kapadia and Mouni Roy in pivotal roles. The film is produced by Karan Johar and is intended to be the first instalment in a planned trilogy.
Brahmastra will be released in theatres on September 9 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
