Akkineni Nagarjuna, Vijay Devarakonda welcome the Hudugaru

Veteran actor and producer Akkineni Nagarjuna was among the first ones to express delight over watching the film on the big screen. "Just watched Boys hostel!! crazy and whacky.. had me in splits!! I was eemembering my hostel days!!😁" wrote Tollywood's eternal Manmathudu in his tweet.

Aside from that, the film has also warranted a Telugu version completely on its own merit and reminded everyone around that novelty goes a long way in the filmmaking business. Not very long ago, Kantara had set the precedent by going on to become a major success in Telugu, Hindi and other langauges, having first made an impact as Kannada release.

Exclusive! Rishab Shetty: 'I belong to Kannada cinema and I will continue representing it'

While it's too early to predict whether Boys Hostel could reach the same heights as Kantara, one does see the film encouraging new voices in Kannada cinema to tell stories in their own unique ways. After all, the linguistic and cultural boundaries are slowly being blurred out which means that there's a much wider audience available for a film today.
