The trend of bringing back iconic IPs by reviving them for sequels and threequels has gained momentum that shows no sign of fading anytime soon. Sunny Deol probably stands at the helm of this revolution at the point and there is no way we are complaining. After the monstrous success of Gadar 2 that followed the first that was released over two decades ago, the star is back to revive yet another of his golden franchises and it is none other than Border. Deol in a very interesting Instagram post has now announced that Border 2 is actually happening and those rumors weren't just rumors but updates about the same. The actor has shared a very interesting creative and below is everything you should know about the same.
Border 2 Confirmed
Sunny Deol took to his official Instagram handle and shared an update on Border 2 confirming the movie. The video has Deol doing a voiceover in the background as he says that he promised the audience that he would return 27 years ago and here he is finally fulfilling the same. The screen soon flashes Border 2 after confirming it is being produced by T-Series and JP Films. Touted as India’s Biggest War Film by the makers the film will certainly bring back the OG vibe because we hear Sonu Nigam singing a new version of Sandese Aate Hain.
Border 2 could very much go the same way Gadar 2 did by sticking to the OG vibe and not trying to modernize it much. “Ek fauji apne 27 saal purane waade ko pura karne, aa raha hai phirse. India's biggest war film, #Border2 Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta & Nidhi Dutta will be directed by Anurag Singh,” wrote Sunny Deol. Interestingly, Anu Malik, Mithoon, and Javed Akhtar will be in charge of the music as per the tags on Instagram.
Where Is Ayushmann Khurrana?
Meanwhile, what is surprising is the absence of Ayushmann Khurrana. It was being said that the Badhaai Ho star has been cast alongside Sunny Deol in the movie. But the announcement post doesn't include his name and nor is he mentioned in the caption with the team. The last rumor as per Pinkvilla has said that Ayushmann and Sunny will begin shooting for the film in October 2024 and the team has been working relentlessly to put together the film. Maybe the makers are planning for a massive standalone announcement for Ayushmann’s entry to the film.
About Border 2
The makers have kept the plot nearly under wraps but it is being said that Border 2 unfolds the same night as the events of first film. Directed by Anurag Singh, JP Films is targeting the Republic Day weekend of the year 2026 for the release of Border 2. The original was directed by JP Dutta and also starred Suniel Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, Jackie Shroff, Pooja Bhatt, Rakhee, and Tabu. There are no reports on whether anyone from the cast apart from Sunny revives their parts or not.
