Syed Sohel became a popular name ever since he impressed everyone with his sting in the Telugu Bigg Boss reality show. He was the runner-up in the sixth season and went on to sign multiple films as the lead man. His latest film, Bootcut Balaraju, released on February 2, 2024, and was a massive flop at the box office.
Now, the village drama has confirmed its release date and will be out on OTT within three weeks of its release. Amazon Prime Video has grabbed the OTT rights and will stream the film starting March 1, 2024. Bootcut Balaraju was in the news as the film got stalled midway through its shoot.
The main lead, Sohel, turned producer and put all his hard-earned savings from his father into the film. But sadly, the film did not click, leaving the distributors at a loss. Sohel kept the film in the news through his emotional speeches at all the pre-release events. He even cried inconsolably in front of the press as shows of Bootcut Balaraju were cancelled due to the lack of crowds.
Even after the release, Sohel did not keep quiet and slammed one of the reviewers for giving the film one star. But all this did not help the film one bit. Sohel had two releases in 2023: SV Krishna Reddy’s entertainer Organic Mama Hybrid Alludu, which is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video, and the critically acclaimed drama Mr Pregnant, available on Aha.
Pandu and Mamidishetty Srinivas co-produced the film, while Shyam K Naidu was the cinematographer. Bheems Ceciroleo composed the music for this film and Vijay Vardhan was the editor. Jabardasth Ramprasad wrote the dialogue for this film. Bootcut Balaraju is about a hot-headed village guy who challenges the village head and contests the Sarpanch elections.
Sohel's performance was over the top and the film was out of theatres in just two days of its release. The young actor has lost a lot of money and is heartbroken but he says he will be back with a bang. He has two more releases this year and will be seen doing crazy roles in these films.
