Boat, the upcoming Tamil film starring Yogi Babu in the lead role, has cleared the censor formalities, and has been given a clean U certificate, the makers of the film announced recently ahead of its release. The film is directed by Chimbudevan.

Boat is an upcoming survival drama film headlined by actor-comedian Yogi Babu. The film is directed by filmmaker Chimbudevan. Recently, the makers announced that Boat has cleared censor formalities and received a clean U certificate. The film will have a runtime of two hours and 5 minutes.

Boat is set during the pre-Independence era and revolves around a group of people who get stranded on a boat in the middle of the sea, as the Japanese bomb the nation. With each character coming from different walks of life, and minimal stock to survive, a drama ensues between them, amid the many life dangers they have to face. The film is said to be based on true incidents. Yogi Babu plays the man who rows the boat.

Besides Yogi Babu, the film also stars actors Gouri Kishan, MS Bhaskar, Chinni Jayanth, Madhumitha, Sha Ra, Chaaams, and others in pivotal roles.

The cast of Boat, in a previous conversation with OTTplay, had said how it was difficult to shoot in between the waters for 33 days continuously. As they likened filming Boat as their own version of Titanic, Boat was shot in the backwaters of Uvari coastal village in Tirunelveli, with much security in place.

The technical crew consists of Madhesh Manickam as the cinematographer and Dinesh Ponraj handling the edits. Ghibran has scored the music for the film.

Boat is produced by Prabha Premkumar and C Kalaivani under Maali and Maanvi Movie Makers and Chimbudeven Entertainment banners. The film will be releasing in theatres along with Nakkhul’s Vascodagama, Pechi, Jama and Vijay Antony’s Mazhai Pidikatha Manithan.
