Speaking about what inspired director Jayakumar to make this film, he revealed that his own upbringing and his hometown inspired him to work on the film. “Having grown up in an environment where sports, especially cricket, was deemed an integral part, was my biggest inspiration for me to write the screenplay for Blue Star”, the director revealed.
Blue Star joins the list of sports dramas of 2024
With Blue Star billed as an out-and-out sports drama film centred around cricket, the Ashok Selvan film joins the list of sports dramas made in 2024. The year will also see another sports drama Lal Salaam, starring Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth, which is lined up for a February release. With 2023 witnessing cricket biopics such as 800 enthralling the audiences, it appears that sports dramas are in demand in Tamil cinema with most of the films scoring high at the box office. But whether Lal Salaam and Blue Star will continue the successful legacy of sports films in Tamil can only be said upon its releases!
