Blue Star took slightly longer to reach streaming platforms compared to most Tamil films, which typically debut on OTT platforms within a month after their initial theatrical release. Delays can arise due to various reasons, one being the producer's struggle to secure reasonable streaming deals post-release.

In recent times, streaming platforms have become more strategic in their movie investments. While big-budget movies with star-studded casts easily find takers, smaller and medium-budget films featuring non-star actors often face challenges in securing streaming partners.

Movies falling into the latter category must first prove their merits at the box office, and their critical and commercial reception will determine their prospects on the streaming front.

Despite a warm response from critics, receiving mostly 3-star ratings and generating strong word of mouth during its theatrical release on January 26, coinciding with Republic Day celebrations, Blue Star failed to translate the favourable response into box office success. The film received a lukewarm response from mass audiences and struggled to make a significant impact on the box office charts.

It remains to be seen whether Blue Star can make an impact on streaming audiences.

The period film revolves around two young individuals striving to overcome societal prejudices through their cricketing skills. Produced by Pa Ranjith, the film seems to examine the decimating effects of caste discrimination and how it hampers true talents from reaching their full potential. Starring Ashok Selvan, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, and Keerthi Pandian in lead roles, Blue Star promises a hard-hitting social commentary.
