Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor on Thursday revealed the trailer of his upcoming movie Bloody Daddy . And going by trailer, director Ali Abbas Zafar has whipped up an explosive action thriller. Shahid looks intense in this "mafia movie" and he goes on a rampage dressed in a black tux, leaving a trail of dead bodies.
And a few seconds into the trailer, we can all relate to Sanjay Kapoor's reaction. "What the f*uck is happening?" Yes, what's going on? Why is Shahid's character raging against a bunch of gun-slinging, tux-wearing gang members?
Judging from the trailer, Bloody Daddy has every cinematic element that we expect to see in a modern-day action movie — guns, drugs, explosions and loads of violence. It's safe to assume that the entire movie plays out over the course of one night. And Shahid's character goes on a killing spree because the gang has committed the grave mistake of taking someone close to him. And the nightclub turns into a battle zone with body counts pilling up every passing second.
Bloody Daddy is the Hindi remake of the French hit Sleepless Night, which is touted as a breakthrough in the action genre. Sleepless Night has inspired the Hollywood remake Sleepless, starring Jamie Foxx and the Tamil remake Thoongaa Vanam, starring Kamal Haasan.
Ali Abbas Zafar, known for movies like Tiger Zinda Hai, Sultan and Bharat, has helmed the Hindi remake.
Bloody Daddy is a direct-to-streaming movie. And it is part of the ambitious slate of movies announced by Jio Studios. The movie will premiere on Jio Cinemas on June 9 as the production company aims to establish a strong position in the highly competitive and already overcrowded OTT space.
Bloody Daddy also stars Diana Penty, Ronit Roy and Rajeev Khandelwal.
