Wesley Snipes coming back as Blade was indeed one of the biggest highlights of Deadpool & Wolverine and here's a happy update.
Wesley Snipes To Reprise Blade Soon?
"There's only been one Blade. Only ever gonna be one Blade." As soon as these words were heard in a jam-packed cinema hall on July 26 this year, fans went crazy as Wesley Snipes returned to play one of his most iconic roles in movies. Deadpool & Wolverine did the unimaginable when it brought back Blade—and that too, Snipes in the role. As the character returned briefly and fought Cassandra Nova in The Void like a true hero, fans finally got what they had been craving for over a decade. It’s no surprise that this taste of blood has only increased their hunger—and also Wesley’s, as he has proven why he still deserves the mantle, even with his age. Now, according to a new report, his return after the Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman starrer maybe sooner than we think.
For the unversed, in The Void when Deadpool and Wolverine both try to fight Cassandra Nova to uncover Wade Wilson's reality, they cross paths with a team that has been hiding from her. This team includes none other than the mutants sent into the void by the TVA. Among them are Elektra, Gambit, X-23, and the mighty Blade, who make a dazzling entry into the film. While their fates remain uncertain, the fact that they didn’t meet their demise offers hope that they are still out there. Now, new rumors claim that Marvel bosses have plans for the Daywalker to return.
Recently, it was observed that Marvel’s release calendar no longer included Mahershala Ali’s Blade. It was later confirmed that the project is still alive but has been pushed. This led to speculation that the delay was to keep Wesley Snipes as Blade for a while longer. According to the latest rumor from My Time To Shine Hello the studio is indeed planning to bring him back sooner than anticipated. Ideally, the best film for his return as Blade would be Avengers: Secret Wars. However, reports from several outlets suggest that Marvel may bring him into a project set between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
According to the latest updates on Disney's release calendar, the 2025 lineup has been reduced to just three theatrical movies, and Blade initially scheduled for November 7, 2025, has been removed. This isn’t entirely surprising, considering no significant progress has been made on the Mahershala Ali starrer. It wasn’t part of any special announcements at San Diego Comic-Con or D23, further solidifying the delay.
As soon as the news of Blade being removed from the 2025 release calendar broke, fans began to worry about whether the project had been canceled. However, this is not the case. Scooper My Time To Shine Hello has confirmed that the studio is still committed to making the Mahershala Ali-led Blade and has not shelved it. Meanwhile, another scooper, MCM Culture claims that movies like Blade and shows like Armor Wars and Nova have been delayed because they don’t align with the current Multiverse Saga timeline. The studio reportedly plans to save them for the post-Multiverse Saga era of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
