Seems like Blade, Nova, and Armor Wars will have to wait for a longer while to see the light of the day in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Blade Removed From 2025 Disney Calendar
Disney’s focus on quality over quantity is now evident in the studio's latest efforts. With the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Disney has finally found momentum that is pushing the entire canon in a positive direction, and they are determined to maintain this progress. After a recent dry spell, the studio has been working hard to shape the Multiverse Saga to the best of its abilities. In 2025, the focus for Marvel is on Captain America: Brave New World Thunderbolts, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps. However, 2025 was also set to mark the release of Mahershala Ali’s long-awaited Blade. Unfortunately, the studio has now removed Blade from the 2025 release calendar, raising concerns. They have also added three new dates for 2028.
Blade has been one of the most troubled MCU projects, as it has been stuck in discussions, scripting, and even production for what feels like ages. From a full rewrite of the movie to finding a director, and even rumors about Mahershala Ali’s possible exit, Blade has dominated headlines. However, it was recently confirmed that things were back on track. Now, Marvel Studios seems to have other plans for the Daywalker, as they have officially removed Blade from the 2025 release calendar. Read on to find out more.
According to the latest updates on Disney’s release calendar, the 2025 theatrical slate has been trimmed to just three movies, with Blade being removed from its scheduled November 7, 2025, release. This comes as little surprise given the lack of progress on the film. It was notably absent from key announcements at both San Diego Comic-Con and D23, further fueling speculation.
Additionally, the studio has added three release dates for MCU projects in 2028. These three untitled films are scheduled for February 18, 2028, May 5, 2028, and November 10, 2028. There are no updates yet on what these films might be, but one thing is clear—they fall outside the Multiverse Saga, as Avengers: Secret Wars will have been released by then.
As soon as news broke that Blade had been removed from the 2025 release calendar, fans feared the project might be canceled. However, that’s not the case. Scooper My Time To Shine Hello confirmed that the studio still intends to make the Mahershala Ali-led Blade film and has not shelved the project. Meanwhile, MCM Culture, another reliable source, claims that Blade along with projects like Armor Wars and Nova, has been delayed because they don’t fit within the current Multiverse Saga. The studio plans to save these projects for the post-Multiverse Saga timeline in the MCU.
