According to the latest reports, Lisa, the member of Blackpink, has joined the cast of The White Lotus for Season 3. The upcoming series of the popular HBO show will feature her using her given name, Lalisa Manobal. The production team is keeping the details of her part under wraps, as is customary for all third-season castings.

Production details and plot overview

Variety reports that The White Lotus will begin production in February in and around Bangkok, Phuket, and Koh Samui, Thailand. The plot remains largely unknown at this time, but reports suggest that it will centre around a different set of visitors to a White Lotus resort.

The international publication also reported that Leslie Bibb, Dom Hetrakul, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey, Tayme Thapthimthong, Christian Friedel, Julian Kostov, Morgana O'Reilly, Lek Patravadi, Shalini Peiris, Carrie Coon, Scott Glenn, Francesca Corney, Nicholas Duvernay, Arnas Fedaravičius, Natasha Rothwell, Walton Goggins, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Aimee Lou Wood, Sarah Catherine Hook, and Sam Nivola are already part of the big ensemble cast.

Blackpink members' acting ventures

Manobal is making her acting debut in The White Lotus. With her appearance in the HBO series, she becomes the second member of Blackpink to do so. The drama The Idol in which Jennie (real name: Jennie Ruby Jane) debuted in June 2023, had her acting debut.

One of the most famous girl groups in the world, Blackpink includes Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa. With the release of their debut album, Square One in August 2016, they debuted under YG Entertainment. Their debut music video for the tune Boombayah broke records for the most views by a Korean act and peaked at number one on the Billboard World Digital Songs list. In addition to being the first K-Pop girl group to ever appear on and reach the top of Billboard's Emerging Artists list, their single Ddu-Du Ddu Du became the highest-charting female K-Pop group on the Billboard Hot 100, reaching number 55. Members of the trio went on to work with Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, Cardi B, and Dua Lipa.

Manobal has set multiple personal bests after starting her own management firm, Lloud Co. In 2021, she made history in South Korea with the release of her solo album, Lalisa which sold 736,999 copies in its first week of sales. Money became the longest-charting song by a female K-Pop singer on the US Billboard 100 and UK Singles Chart, while both Lalisa and Money—two singles from the album—charted in the top ten of the Billboard Global 200. In 2023, she made history by becoming the first solo K-Pop artist to win three Guinness World Records: most Instagram followers by a K-Pop artist, and most MTV Video Music Awards and MTV Europe Music Awards wins by a K-Pop artist.

Previous success of The White Lotus

Mike White is not only the director and executive producer of The White Lotus but he also conceived the show. Mark Kamine and David Bernad both serve as executive producers. The Tourism Authority of Thailand and HBO have joined together to promote and film the third installment.

Upon its 2021 debut, The White Lotus became an instant hit with HBO viewers. The first season, which took place in Hawaii, won ten Emmys and received twenty nominations, including for an outstanding limited or anthology series. With 23 nominations, including outstanding drama series, the second instalment—which debuted in December 2022 and took place in Sicily—won five Emmys.
