Black Mirror has amazed and shocked viewers ever since its first season was released. Now, after five years since the last season of the show was released, reports suggest that a new series is in the making at Netflix.

According to a report by Variety, a new anthology series of Black Mirror is shaping up and the casting has now begun. The report also suggests that the tightly guarded new season will have more episodes than season 5. The previous season featured three installments starring Andrew Scott, Anthony Mackie, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Topher Grace and Miley Cyrus.

Variety also informs that a source close to the development revealed that the new season will be made on a bigger cinematic scope with each installment treated as an individual film. This would not be something new considering that each installment of the last season was on a grand scale and had a runtime of over 60 minutes.

Though the first two seasons of the show aired on UK broadcaster Channel 4, Netflix elevated the format to greater heights with episodes made on a bigger budget and with big star names. Black Mirror has a large fan following around the world today and has won a number of awards.

Created by Charlie Brooker, the anthology show has individual episodes which follows various genres but all set in a near dystopian future. Following the success of the show, an interactive film Black Mirror: Bandersnatch was released in 2018. Directed by David Slade, the film featured Fionn Whitehead, Will Poulter, Asim Chaudhry, Craig Parkinson, Alice Lowe and Tallulah Haddon among others.
