Spy series that will keep you on the edge of your seat
Black Doves is set to drop on Netflix on December 5, Thursday. The series, which brings Knightley back to the small screen, is set against the backdrop of London at Christmas. According to the official synopsis, Black Doves is a sharp, action-packed, and heartfelt story of friendship and sacrifice. At the center of the tale is Knightley’s Helen Webb, a quick-witted, down-to-earth, dedicated wife and mother, who, as it turns out, is also a professional spy.
Her job – is to pass on her politician husband’s secrets to the Black Doves, the shadowy organization she works for. When her secret lover Jason (Andrew Koji) is shot dead by a sniper, her spymaster, the enigmatic Reed (Sarah Lancashire), calls in Helen’s old friend Sam Young (Ben Winshaw) to keep her safe. The suave, Champagne-guzzling Sam, though, had been out of the game since a failed job with disastrous consequences.
Together, Helen and Sam set off on a mission to investigate who killed Jason and why, which leads them to uncover a vast, interconnected conspiracy linking the murky London underworld to a looming geopolitical crisis.
