Also starring Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate, Black Adam releases in theatres on October 21.
Dwayne Johnson is finally here in the role of DC’s Black Adam. This character, which has been the oldest in comic books, has come to life in the movie and expect things to be intense. While DC has always fallen back on Batman to take back control, Black Adam’s entry promises a shift in power dynamics. Unfortunately, the trailer only shows us a glimpse of that.
Black Adam will tell the tale of Black Adam, who has lost his son over a mission. He battles the Justice Society of America, better known as JSA, with the intent of completing his mission without anybody even remotely trying to stop him.
Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate, leads this JSA. We see Aldis Hodge’s Hawkman, considered one of the most powerful on the team, accompany him and be nothing but an ant Black Adam can crush within seconds. Want to know the back story? When he was back in time, Black Adam actually served Prince Khufu aka Hawkman. Years later, they engage in a fight and Black Adam has powers beyond imagination.
“I am neither peaceful nor do I surrender,” perfectly describes Black Adam, who has destroyed things while on his mission. Do not get confused, Black Adam is not a hero and he's not afraid to admit that. Black Adam, once a hero, is now a supervillain and proud of it.
With JSA behind his back, can this father fulfil his mission and promise to his dead son? The story gets a little intense but the VFX sure promises some action and drama that DC has never offered before.
Cyclone, played by Quintessa Swindel, brings in colour, literally. On the other hand, Noah Centinho’s Atom Smasher promises almost as much destruction as Black Adam. Okay that’s an exaggeration. Black Adam literally destroys the world – with lightning and with fire and surprisingly, it is a visual spectacle. Interesting fact: Black Adam and Atom Smasher were actually friends while the former was with the JSA.
For the uninitiated, Black Adam is a successor of Shazam and turns into Mighty Adam when he says ‘Shazam’. Once a king, will he ever reclaim his throne and take over Kahndaq? Not before killing Vandal Savage’s follower Ahk-ton, who murdered his wife and son.
