OTTPlay caught up with the birthday girl for an exclusive 'Birthday Gupshup’

Hello Laxmi! Since it's your birthday, it goes without saying that you're spending your birthday with your special people. Do you mind telling us who these special people are with whom you will be spending your birthday?
They are the ones who have been my friends for years now who have been through my thick and thin. I haven't really met up with them. So today, on this day, people are coming from across the world from different cities. Like each one of my old friends are coming from different cities. They are the ones who have got married and we don't really get to spend time with each other because of our busy lives.

If you jog down the memory lane, what is it that you would like to recall about the birthdays that you have had during your childhood?
My birthdays have always been very, have always been very special since my childhood days. My parents have always made it special. They always make it look like a grand celebration or a grand occasion. So since then, that has been like a culture for me. be it anywhere... whatever Iam doing close to my birthday and even on my birthday, Iam with my family and my friends and also extended friends. So,my birthday affairs are quite huge and grand. My friends call it a ‘mini wedding’. (laughs)

Do you remember any of the birthday gifts that you had received during your growing up years?
From my sister and also from my friends. My friends had collected my pictures from my childhood days to the current moment and made a collage video with them. They gave a journey of my life. That was a very special moment for me more than any materialistic thing. And, what my sister gave me was a portrait of mine with the words ‘You Are Precious’, which I have still preserved in my room. I crave for people who make an effort and give me such heartfelt gifts.

Have you ever gifted anything to anyone on their birthday that is still evergreen in your memory?
Yes … I have done such stuff. But they, of course, are very close to my heart. I would not like to reveal who they are. (smiles). I had made amazing runthrough video journey from the time they were born till where they are today. I have given lots of surprises.

Tell us reasons/ situations which would make you smile.
When my closest people make special efforts to come there and give me a good tight hug, spending time with me … quality time... and just be there with me at that moment on my special day. That means a lot to me.

If you had to look back in time and had an option of shifting gears and changing your career, would you be doing that?
Not at all. I'm very blessed to be where I am. And I'm blessed to do what I'm doing. Maybe I was destined to do this, since I started off at a very young age. Even though I wanted to be a sportsperson, I never thought that I would be an actor. I always wanted to be something. So, if I wouldn't have been an actor, I think I would have been into sports, sports, sports.

During your growing up years, were the times when you did not like the way you looked?
Not at all... I have always cherished my growth and my transformations. When I look back, I see that I've come a long way. So I always appreciate that. I've never seen it in a very negative way. I'm not a negative person. Even if it has to be even a negative situation. I see it in a very positive way. And it's all about your greatest strength and greatest weakness. Speaking of greatest strength, it has always been my dad.

Okay, since it's your birthday today, have you planned for the life ahead after today?
Of course, I look forward every day after, not just my birthday every day. I see it. And I look forward to something great. And with a lot of gratitude in my heart.

How would you describe your birthday state of mind?
Like I said, birthdays are always very special for me. State of mind is always positive.

Since it's your birthday, tell us about one thing which no one knows about you.
That I am a very spiritual person.
