Catherine Tresa and Samyuktha Menon play the female leads in the film written and directed by Vashist
Nandamuri Kalyan Ram's quest for a hit after Pataas has remained elusive so far but one has got to give to him for his consistent attempts to stay in hunt and win the trust of audiences. His next release is an ambitious socio-fantasy, Bimbisara, written and directed by first-time filmmaker Vashist. Bimbisara has him paired alongside Catherine Tresa and Samyuktha Menon, while Warina Hussain, Vennela Kishore, Brahmaji, Srinivasa Reddy too play crucial roles.
Commemorating Kalyan Ram's birthday, the film's trailer was unveiled today at AMB Cinemas, Hyderabad. The film takes you through two avatars of Kalyan Ram - one as a ruthless king and another as a regular youngster in a modern-day setting. Many centuries ago, Bimbisara is introduced as a king who's even dangerous than Ravana and shakes the daylights out of his enemies. Catherine Tresa plays the princess he's in love with.
Vivan Bhatena is cast as the villain who is informed by a sorcerer that a king Bimbisara is back in a new birth to seek vengeance and ensure his end. What happens when the youngster realises his gory past? What was the injustice done to Bimbisara? Will Samyuktha Menon be seen in the current-day backdrop or in a different era? We'll have answers shortly. All we could say is that Kalyan Ram has made an honest attempt to deliver a spinechilling performance as the ruthless king.
The trailer ends with a crocodile stepping out of a small pond in his court. Bimbisara, to release on August 5, seems like a usual reincarnation action drama but the mishmash is tailormade for the big screen. Vasudev Muneppagari has penned the dialogues for the film which has a background score by MM Keeravaani. Chirrantan Bhatt has composed the songs. Ramajogayya Sastri, Sreemani, Varikuppala Yadagiri have penned the lyrics. Chota K Naidu is the cinematographer.
