The launch of the eight season of Tamil reality show Bigg Boss took place on Sunday. In the first, actor Vijay Sethupathi took over the reins from Kamal Haasan, and hosted the new season. This season began with a BB anthem performed by rapper and lyricist Arivu, as Vijay Sethupathi introduced the new list of contestants, which is a mix of small-screen actors, film personalities, and other television celebrities.
Bigg Boss Tamil 8 revolves around the concept of boys versus girls. On the first day of the launch, contestants were asked take a decision on the bedroom side they want to sleep, by dividing into boys and girls. Before we see how this conflict pans out, here is the list of contenders who entered the house.

Ravinder Chandrasekaran
A film producer, Ravinder Chandrasekaran was the first contestant to enter the Bigg Boss Tamil 8 house. While he has worked in the Tamil film industry before, he shot to fame after he posted his reviews on the previous seasons of the show, online. One should now wait and watch how his knowledge on the previous seasons will help him get through the game.
Sachana Namidass
Sachana Namidass entered Bigg Boss Tamil 8 as the second contestant. She is most popularly known to have played Vijay Sethupathi's daughter in the 2024 hit film Maharaja. With the ambition to make it big in media and films, Sachana is possibly the youngest contestant this season.
Dharsha Gupta
Dharsha Gupta enjoys a massive following on social media, and shot to fame with the cookery show Cooku with Comali. After doing some stints in television serials like Minnale and Senthoora Poove, Dharsha has now stepped into the Bigg Boss house.
Sathya
Sathya is a small screen actor and shot to fame with television serial Neelakuyil and Velaikkaran. He also appeared in Kana Kaanum Kaalangal in 2022, and participated in Cooku with Comali. It is to be noted that Sathya is married to singer Ramya NSK, who previously took part in the second season of Bigg Boss Tamil.
Deepak Dinkar
Deepak is a well-face in the television industry and has been anchoring shows for a long time now, especially Jodi No 1. Over time, he is known for also appearing in serials like Thendral, Anni, Rekkai Kattiya Manasu, Manaivi, to name a few.
RJ Ananthi
A radio jockey by profession. RJ Ananthi has appeared in films like Comali, Bigil and Velaiila Pattadhari 2. RJ Ananthi will be an interesting addition to Bigg Boss, given her following garnered through social media and YouTube.
Sunita Gogoi
A native of Assam, Sunita Gogoi is a household name in television industry. She made her appearance through as a dancer, and soon took part in Cooku with Comali. Known for her efforts to learn Tamil, and bubbly nature, Sunita is a famous name among the television audience.
Gana Jeffrey
A singer by profession who specialises in gana songs, Jeffrey has used singing as a medium to talk about his stories. With Bigg Boss also a platform to showcase your talents, it will be interesting to see how Jeffrey uses this opportunity. Ranjith
Ranjith
Ranjith is a veteran actor who has appeared in films like Pandavar Bhoomi, Pasupathi c/o Rasakkapalayam, and Thambikku Indha Ooru to name a few. The actor was recently courted in controvery about his statement on honour killings. He was last seen in 2024 film Kavundampalayam, in which he starred and directed.
Soundariya Nanjundan
Soundariya Nanjundan is an actor and model by profession, who has appeared in both films and television programs. She has played roles in films like Darbar and Draupathi and Aha Tamil's Vera Maari Office.
Arun Prasad
Another known face from the television industry, Arun Prasad shot to fame with Vijay TV serial Bharathi Kannamma. With the aim to make it big in acting, Arun Prasad has entered the Bigg Boss house as a contestant this season.
Pavithra Janani
Pavithra Janani is a prominent face in small screen industry. Her works include Eeramana Rojave, Thendram Vanthu Ennai Thodum , Office, Saravanan Meenatch and others. The actor was also recently seen in Thendral Vanthu Ennai Thodum.
Tharshika
Tharshika is another prominent face in the Tamil small screen industry, and she is known for her role in Thalathu.
VJ Vishal
VJ Vishal is an actor and anchor. He is known for his works including, serial Baakiyalakshmi, contestants as Cooku with Comali and Kalakkal Champions and Athu Ithu Yethu.
Anshitha Akbarsha
Anshitha has appeared in serials like Chithi 2, and Chellamma, and as a participant in Cooku with Comali 5.
Arnav
Arnav is also a television actor who has appeared in films like Sakthi and Keladi Kanmani. Now, he has entered the Bigg Boss house, with the hopes to create more impressions among the audience.

Muthukumaran Jegatheesan is also part of the entertainment industry, and has worked as a host and debate speaker.
VJ Jacqueline
VJ Jacqueline is a known face in the television industry, who has worked as anchor and actor. She has also appeared in films like Kolamau Kokila, and serials like Kana Kanum Kalangal and Andal Azhagar.
